Better Rest Comes to Southern Vermont With Specialized Sleep Facility

Residents of southern Vermont now have a dedicated place to turn when they cannot get a good night’s rest. Rutland Regional Medical Center recently opened its brand new center for sleep disorders, providing expanded resources for those struggling with insomnia, apnea and other nocturnal health issues. The facility occupies a renovated building located just across from the main hospital campus, taking over space that previously housed administrative offices and orthopedic services.

The updated clinic is designed specifically for comprehensive overnight evaluations. It features six specialized examination rooms equipped with comfortable beds and integrated monitoring systems that allow medical staff to track patient data throughout the night. By bringing these capabilities in house, the medical center aims to streamline the diagnostic process for local residents who might otherwise have traveled long distances for similar testing.

Medical professionals say the need for this expansion stems from a growing realization of how deeply sleep affects overall physical health. Dr. Veronika Jedlovszky noted that the link between poor sleep and various underlying diseases has become much clearer in recent years. This shift in understanding has led to an influx of referrals from different medical specialists who suspect that an untreated sleep disorder may be complicating their patients’ recovery or chronic conditions.

The center is officially open for business and currently accepting new patients. To accommodate busy schedules and provide consistent care, the facility will operate seven days a week, ensuring that help is available whenever it is needed most.
